– Two North East digital support programmes have come together to help Northumberland SMEs take advantage of superfast broadband –

iNorthumberland Business Support has connected with its Newcastle equivalent, Go Digital, to enable more businesses across Northumberland to access superfast broadband.

A new partnership between the digital support programmes has made a larger pot of funding from Go Digital available to iNorthumberland Business Support, meaning that eligible businesses can now receive funding to cover the fixed costs of getting connected to a superfast broadband service up to the value of £3,000. This may be particularly helpful for businesses located in rural areas where superfast broadband is not currently accessible.

iNorthumberland Business Support – which is delivered by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company – provides fully funded, high quality online digital training. Also offered as part of the programme are accompanying masterclasses with experienced business advisors and digital experts, helping Northumberland-based businesses to make the most out of superfast broadband.

The scheme’s Newcastle-based counterpart, Go Digital, offers funding for superfast broadband and business support to organisations in the city.

Upon completing 12 hours of iNorthumberland Business Support’s training, qualifying businesses are able to apply for a year’s free superfast broadband – worth up to £400 – or may be able to claim back the cost of installation if they already have superfast broadband.

Peter McIntyre, group managing director of Arch, said: “There has been a great deal of interest in the digital training and funding for superfast broadband offered by iNorthumberland Business Support, so we are delighted that more businesses across Northumberland will now be able to benefit thanks to our partnership with Go Digital. Both programmes have the same goal – to ensure our region remains competitive – and by coming together we can make even more of a difference.”
